Sipping Elegance: Highlights of Champagne Alfred Gratien Cuvée Paradis Rosé 2008

By | 23 June 2025

Champagne Alfred Gratien has released a remarkable special edition, the Cuvée Paradis Rosé 2008, which encapsulates both tradition and innovation. Composed of 63% Chardonnay and 37% Pinot Noir, this wine is noteworthy not only for its blend but also for the unique process it underwent—being disgorged in January 2023 after spending extra time on the lees.

This full salmon pink champagne exhibits an orange hue and delivers a beautifully complex profile. Tasting notes include savory and spicy elements like orange peel, cedar, and dried herbs, complemented by fruit flavors of pear, apricot, and sour cherry. Its richness is balanced with toasty and spicy characters while maintaining a vibrant citrus freshness that provides energy and complexity.

One of the standout aspects of this champagne is the cork used for the second fermentation instead of the traditional crown cap. The 8 g/l dosage effectively balances the high acidity without overwhelming the palate, leading to a long, spiced finish. Overall, the Cuvée Paradis Rosé 2008 is rated 95/100, emerging as a serious contender among the finest rosé champagnes, surprising even those with high expectations.
