Herrenhof Lamprecht: Impressive Volcanic Wines from Styria, with a Focus on Furmint and Field Blends

By | 19 October 2026

Herrenhof Lamprecht is a historic estate in Austria’s Vulkanland Steiermark. Once a monastery, it began its current phase of wine production in 2005 and now has 11 hectares of vines, including three hectares devoted to Furmint.

The wines were tasted with Gottfried Lamprecht. He makes them in 600-litre barrels, using oak from his own forest for about half of them. The approach is natural, with some sulphur dioxide added before bottling.

The tasting revealed a collection of wines marked by freshness, precision and texture, with Furmint and traditional field blends particularly impressive.
