Herdade Aldeia de Cima is a sprawling 2400-hectare estate located in Vidigueira, in the southern part of Alentejo, Portugal. Luisa Amorim and her husband Francisco Rêgo have embarked on an exciting wine project here, leveraging Luisa’s rich background in the wine industry. She hails from the esteemed Amorim family, known for their cork production, and is already managing two other wine estates owned by Amorim: Quinta Nova de Nossa Senhora do Carmo in the Douro and Taboadella in the Dão. This initiative marks Luisa’s personal venture, focusing on four vineyard blocks with 34 distinct micro-terroirs, where they cultivate 12 indigenous Portuguese grape varieties.
The Alentejo is famous for its cork forests, and the land was previously owned by Luisa’s father, Américo Amorim. The project commenced in 2017 and aims to produce approximately 100,000 bottles, prioritizing quality and typicity.
