Images showcasing the charm of vineyards, winemakers, and wine culture have recently been shortlisted for the Errazuriz Wine Photographer of the Year 2025 award. This esteemed competition features stunning photography across three categories: People, Places, and Produce.
The competition emphasizes the importance of photography in the winemaking industry, offering a unique window into the stories that each bottle of wine tells. Pepa Chadwick, a family ambassador at Chile’s Viña Errázuriz & Viña Seña, stated, “Few things can truly capture the essence of wine like tasting it, but a photograph can transport people to the vineyard, the cellar, or the table where the experience unfolds.”
Among the notable shortlisted images is "Palmenti di Pietragalla" by Oscar Oliveras, which portrays unique underground winemaking structures in Basilicata, Italy.
Another contender is a photograph by Heather Daenitz featuring a vineyard worker in California, captured amidst the morning mist, embodying the hardworking spirit of the winemaking community. Other images reflect the serene beauty of wintry landscapes and artistic perspectives of vineyards, as in Luke Carver’s photo of deer at Château Brown and Magdalena Garbacz’s aerial view of a picturesque Swiss wine estate.
A panel of expert judges, including Decanter’s own art director, will determine the winners, who will be celebrated at an awards ceremony on May 20. The shortlisted images will also be on display in a free exhibition at The Mall Galleries in London from May 21 to 25.
