Introducing Invincible: The New Douro Star Winery by Marc Kent and Rita Marques

Invincible, the Douro project founded by Marc Kent and Rita Marques, is making waves in the wine industry. Marc Kent, renowned for his role at Boekenhoutskloof in South Africa, has dedicated significant time to the Douro region, while Rita Marques has a rich history in winemaking, previously associated with the Conceito label.

Founded in 2000, Invincible is still in its early stages, with many of its top-tier wines recently being released. Situated in Cima Corgo, the heart of the Douro, the winery offers a range from affordable everyday selections to more ambitious wines.

Highlights from their 2024 and 2025 offerings include:

  • Invincible Número Um Branco 2025: A blend that introduces a touch of Muscat, fermented in amphorae. It displays bright, stony character with pure fruit, earning a score of 91/100.

  • Invincible Número Dois Branco 2024: This wine, crafted from older vineyards, balances concrete and barrel aging, showcasing freshness and nutty hints, also rated at 91/100.

  • Invincible ‘The Invincible’ Branco 2024: The debut release, characterized by its juicy intensity and minerality, received a fine score of 93/100.

  • Invincible Número Um Tinto 2024: With vibrant fruit flavors and a lively profile, this wine scored 92/100 and is available in the UK for approximately £12.75.

  • Invincible Número Dois Tinto 2023: Made from 60-year-old vines, this wine offers bright, juicy fruit framed by spices, also rated 92/100.

  • Invincible ‘The Invincible’ Tinto 2023: Drawn from a vineyard established in 1930, this concentrated and expressive wine boasts a score of 94/100.

  • Natural Mystic Vinhas Velhas 2025 Vinho Verde: Predominantly Loureiro, this lively and textured wine impressed with a rating of 92/100.
