Sietze Wijma has joined the panel of judges for the 2026 Decanter World Wine Awards (DWWA). Based in the Netherlands, he is a renowned wine educator who operates under the company name The Art of Tasting. Wijma employs a unique methodology in his courses where wines are paired with added flavor compounds to assist wine professionals in confidently identifying complex flavors and recognizing faults.
His approach has gained international attention; flavor vials from The Art of Tasting are utilized by wine educators around the globe, establishing themselves as a standard tool in sensory education. Wijma holds an MSc in Sensory Science, the WSET Diploma, and has earned the title of Advanced Cicerone®.
In 2025, he delivered a well-received masterclass covering wine faults for judges at the DWWA. His participation in the DWWA judging panel marks his first experience in this role, and he is expected to bring valuable expertise to the awards.
