Graham Beck is renowned for its exceptional traditional method sparkling wines in South Africa, known as Cap Classiques. The Graham Beck Blanc de Blancs 2020 is a new addition to their impressive lineup.
This release is made entirely from Chardonnay grapes, using only the cuvée press fraction. Of the wine, 46% is fermented in both small and large neutral oak barrels, while the remainder is fermented in stainless steel. After an aging period of 60 months on the lees, this sparkling wine is bottled with a residual sugar content of 5 g/litre.
The result is a finely structured wine that is both linear and delicate, with excellent acidity supporting bright citrus notes complemented by subtle hints of baked bread and pastry. A touch of grapefruit enhances the palate, with zesty acidity providing a refreshing finish. The wine concludes with an appealing bitter twist, making it a delightful experience overall. It has received a score of 93/100 and is priced at £21 for a mixed six at Majestic, representing excellent value.
