Penfolds Unveils 75th Anniversary Collection: The 100-Point Grange 2022 Shines Bright as an A-Lister

By | 7 August 2026

The recent launch of the 2022 vintage of Penfolds Grange marked a significant moment in the wine world, celebrating the iconic wine’s 75th anniversary. Chief winemaker Peter Gago expressed his excitement and anticipation at the exclusive preview held in London, highlighting the expectations for this vintage after the success of the 2018 and 2021 vintages.

The 2022 Grange, known for its blend of fruit from regions such as Barossa Valley, McLaren Vale, and Coonawarra, benefited from a cool growing season with above-average winter rainfall that supported steady vine growth. Despite some weather challenges affecting yields in Barossa Shiraz, an extended ripening period resulted in small berries and firm tannins, crafting a full-bodied yet approachable vintage. Gago noted, "The 2022 Grange assuredly authenticates its flagship role and 75th anniversary credentials," and foresaw it aging well over fifty years.

In addition to the Grange, other highlighted offerings from the 2026 Penfolds Collection included St Henri 2023, Bin 707 Cabernet Sauvignon 2024, and the highly regarded Yattarna Bin 144 Chardonnay 2024, praised for its purity and composure. The collection continues to showcase wines from various regions worldwide, underlining Gago’s global vision and the extensive holdings of parent company Treasury Wine Estates.

The 2026 Penfolds Collection was globally released on August 6, and additional offerings, such as Bin 51 Eden Valley Riesling and Bin 169 Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon, will be available in select markets. Collectors can also look forward to the newly updated edition of Rewards of Patience, featuring tasting notes from esteemed wine critics and updates on all Penfolds vintages.
