Domaine Saint Amant is situated at a high elevation of 600 meters, encompassing 32 hectares of vineyards around the village of Suzette. Founded in 1992 by Jacques Wallut, the winery was established after he transitioned from a technology business. Upon his retirement at 65, he acquired vineyards that were largely in poor condition. Determined to start fresh, he replaced the old vines with new plantings of his choice.
Eloïse Nosworthy, Jacques’ granddaughter, currently manages the estate alongside her mother. The first vintage from Domaine Saint Amant was released in 1995, shortly after her mother returned from the USA in 1996, together with her English investment banker husband. Although Eloïse initially had no plans to join the family business and was occupied with corporate communications and jewelry design in London, the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 prompted her to relocate to France and engage in that year’s vintage.
Presently, they cultivate six hectares of white grapes, predominantly Viognier, which comprises 95% of their white wine production.
