I recently had my first experience at Hector’s, an exceptional wine bar nestled in De Beauvoir Town, Hackney, just a short stroll from the Dalston Junction overground station. This location, combined with nearby wine spots like Dan’s, Newcomer, and Brilliant Corners, makes this area a top destination for wine enthusiasts.
The ambiance at Hector’s is cozy and inviting, and even though it was bustling during my visit, we didn’t wait too long to find a seat. The wine selection is noteworthy, featuring a blend of both low intervention and unique bottles. They charge a corkage fee of £20 based on the retail price, making it an affordable option for enjoying quality wine.
Along with an impressive wine list, Hector’s offers a selection of small plates, perfect for pairing with their drinks. I decided to try a fascinating PetNat from Bourgogne:
Domaine Dandelion Pet Nat 2023
Bourgogne, France
This wine is made from Gamay and Pinot sourced from Volnay. It has a slight cloudiness with a hint of color, offering lovely flavors of pear and apple, complemented by cherry nuances and a touch of bitterness. There are spicy notes of cumin and coriander, presenting a beautifully balanced palate. I rated it 93/100.
