On November 28, a remarkable walk-around tasting event took place in the vibrant Gangnam district of Seoul, South Korea. This gathering, co-hosted by Decanter and Winevision, one of the country’s leading wine and spirit educational institutions, showcased top-scoring wines from the Decanter World Wine Awards (DWWA) 2025. The event was organized by Moonsong Bang, a prominent educator and DWWA judge.
Over 80 award-winning wines from 19 countries were available for tasting, allowing participants to explore an impressive mix of styles, from sparkling to sweet and fortified wines. This showcase marked the largest DWWA tasting event held outside of the UK, reflecting the increasing exuberance of the wine culture in South Korea and across Asia.
Guests were welcomed with a selection that included five outstanding Platinum winners from countries such as Australia, Portugal, and Spain, all rated at 97 points. Participants enjoyed wines organized by country, facilitating a focused exploration of each region. The sparkling and fortified wines were presented on the ground floor, while additional styles could be explored on the upper level.
Attendees included both wine enthusiasts and industry professionals, who engaged with the organizers about the rigorous judging process of the awards and the diverse origins of the wines. The sampling included 11 of last year’s 50 Best in Show winners, along with several Platinum, Gold, Silver, and Bronze medal wines.
