By | 20 October 2024

Caves Jean Bourdy is a historic estate located in the Jura region, with roots extending back to 1579. It has been managed using biodynamic practices since 2006 and encompasses 10 hectares of vineyards. In 2022, Laura Bourdy, representing the 16th generation, took over management, leading to a rebranding of the estate as Domaine Laura Bourdy.

This wine is a harmonious blend of Trousseau, Poulsard, and Pinot Noir sourced from a 3.2-hectare vineyard. The wine undergoes whole bunch fermentation with wild yeasts and minimal additions of sulfur dioxide. It presents an intriguingly savory and intense profile, characterized by notes of wild herbs, olives, and a meaty richness, complemented by flavors of raspberry, cherry, and sweet strawberry. The finish features brooding sour cherry tones and a hint of bitterness. This bold and savory wine requires some time to open up fully and reveal its best qualities. Rated 92/100 (Available in the UK for around £48, sourced from The Good Wine Shop, with special thanks to Brian Smith for sharing this information!)
