Experience Elegance: The Unmissable Château Ducru-Beaucaillou Masterclass at DFWE London

By | 14 September 2024

Join us on Saturday 16 November for DFWE London, where you’ll have a unique opportunity to experience an exceptional tasting of Bordeaux second growth wines from the St-Julien appellation at the Château Ducru-Beaucaillou masterclass.

Château Ducru-Beaucaillou, established in 1720 and a grand cru classé since 1855, is celebrated for its refined elegance and its exceptional longevity.

The vineyard spans 105 hectares and features diverse soil types, including the coarse gravel that gave the property its name, along with marl and sand. The wines are primarily composed of Cabernet Sauvignon (around 60%, varying by year), complemented by about one third Merlot, and a small percentage of Petit Verdot, adding a subtly spicy flavor.

This is the credo of this distinguished St-Julien Bordeaux second growth. The masterclass will be conducted by Bruno-Eugène Borie, the dedicated owner and the third generation of his family to manage the estate.

Borie, who was born and raised on the property, recently celebrated a significant milestone: his 20th year as head of the estate. He will look back on the rich history of Ducru-Beaucaillou, honoring its long-standing heritage and discussing his efforts to establish a strong foundation for its future success.
