Stumbled upon this wine at the Kews’ notable Good Wine Shop. After trekking from Twickenham to Kew and a garden visit, it was a pleasure to discover that one can purchase a bottle, pay £10 for corkage, and enjoy it on the premises or just outside along with a selection of cold dishes. Perfect for sharing between two on a Sunday post an 18 km journey. This is crafted by Franco Lourens, whom I’ve had the pleasure of tasting with in South Africa. Priced at £30 for take away, or £40 to relish there.
Lourens Family Wines Lindi Carien 2022 Western Cape, South Africa
Contains 13% alcohol. Composed of 52% Chenin, 27% Verdelho, 13% Colombar, 4% Grenache Blanc, and 3% Palomino. This naturally crafted beverage is lightly filtered and presents a full yellow color. The intricate flavors include zesty lemon, lime, and yellow plum, accented by a crisp acid line and subtle toasty notes. It is invigorating with a mineral finesse beneath the fruit layers. Showcases great vibrancy, clarity, and potential for evolution. Rated 94/100.
