Germaine Santallier is a youthful wine grower in Beaujolais. His work experience includes stints with Marie-Thérèze Chappaz in Switzerland, then Jean-Claude Lapalu in Beaujolais. A twist of fate caused by the death of his father pressured Germaine to takeover the family’s 7-hectare vineyard, he was just 19 at that time. His first-ever wine vintage was in 2021. The vineyards reside in the valley of Marchampt, reaching heights of up to 600 m, and this particular wine comes from a 1-hectare plot of bushvines thriving on blue volcanic soils at 450 m. The farming methods are organic yet uncertified, and the vinification process involves 100% whole bunch in concrete, with no added sulfites except for 10 ppm during bottling.
