Laphroaig Unveils Exciting New Celebrity Partnership

Laphroaig, the renowned single malt whisky from Islay, has announced an intriguing new partnership with acclaimed actor Willem Dafoe. The collaboration was introduced at a private event in Selfridges, London, where a short film titled "The Taste" was unveiled. This campaign is part of Laphroaig’s ongoing "Unphorgettable" initiative launched in 2024.

In the film, directed by British filmmaker Tim Pope, Dafoe dives into the unique and sometimes challenging tasting notes that characterize Laphroaig’s iconic 10-year-old whisky. The actor’s rich narration, combined with humorous quotes sourced from the brand’s "Friends of Laphroaig" community, paints a vivid picture of the whisky’s flavor, likening it to experiences such as "licking a walrus chomping on a seaweed cigar."

Dafoe expressed his excitement about participating in the project, recalling his first trip to Scotland and how it felt familiar to him. He noted the authenticity of the Laphroaig brand and the creative opportunity it presented. "The Taste," he said, reflects the known and unknown aspects of exploring Laphroaig’s complex flavors.

Chris Richardson, managing director of Suntory Global Spirits, highlighted Dafoe’s suitable match for the brand, pointing out that both share an uncompromising dedication to their craft. The partnership extends into 2026 and includes conversations around a limited-edition release influenced by Dafoe, hinting at a "tropical, Pirates of the Caribbean" theme.
