Bowmore and Aston Martin have collaborated to unveil a prestigious whisky known as Bowmore ARC-54, priced at an astonishing £71,000. This limited-edition release, which features only 130 decanters worldwide, marks the culmination of a partnership between the renowned Islay distillery and the luxury sports car manufacturer.
The whisky, distilled in November 1968, is a blend inspired by the golden ratio, with 61.8% aged in second-fill European oak sherry butts and 38.2% in third-fill American oak hogsheads. After maturing separately, the two versions were united for an additional 15 months in a single cask. The elaborate design of its bottle takes cues from the aerodynamic features of the Aston Martin Valkyrie hypercar.
Dr. Calum Fraser, Bowmore’s chief blender, commented on the whisky’s complexity and uniqueness, emphasizing the distillery’s dedication to precision and clarity over time. He highlighted Bowmore’s commitment to blending the past with contemporary influences, aiming to create exceptional spirits for future generations.
This release adds to the ongoing collaboration between Bowmore and Aston Martin, which began in 2019 and has included various limited-edition bottlings and marketing strategies. Notably, another bottle from this partnership, Bowmore ARC-52, sold for an extraordinary £187,500 at auction in 2023, with proceeds supporting the Islay community.
Bowmore ARC-54 is available at selected retailers, continuing a legacy of exclusivity and luxury that appeals to both whisky enthusiasts and automobile aficionados.
