Champagne Collard-Picard Perpetuelle 12 Années NV France
This exceptional wine offers a delightful tasting experience while showcasing impressive technical skill. The composition includes 50% Chardonnay sourced from the Côte des Blancs and Vitryat regions, specifically Le Mesnil sur Oger and Oger, along with 25% Pinot Noir and 25% Pinot Meunier from the Marne Valley, situated between Epernay and Dormans. The base wine consists of a combination of 70% reserve wines from the years 2008 to 2018 and 30% from 2019, which was aged in a 7200 litre oak cask, with no malolactic fermentation involved. Bottled in May 2020, it underwent disgorgement four years later, with a dosage of 4 g/L. This wine exhibits remarkable intensity, characterized by pure, refined citrus flavors complemented by a salty, mineral touch. It offers great precision paired with delightful acidity and finishes with notes of pithy grapefruit. The wine remains quite taut and compact, displaying genuine presence and potential for further improvement with additional bottle aging. Score: 93/100
