Exploring Brilliant Corners: A Fusion of Natural Wine, Japanese Cuisine, and Music in Dalston, London

By | 14 September 2025

Brilliant Corners is part of what I like to call the Dalston Trifecta, a series of must-visit spots for wine enthusiasts in East London. To experience the trifecta, start at Dan’s, then head to Brilliant Corners, and finish at Newcomer Wines—all within close proximity to one another.

Brilliant Corners functions as a restaurant, a natural wine bar, and a lively music venue. For those who prefer a quieter atmosphere, arriving early is advisable. However, if you’re interested in enjoying live DJ sets, visiting later in the evening is the way to go. Guests have the option of reserving a table for the set menu in the restaurant area or sitting at the bar, where you can order from the à la carte menu or choose the set menu. Personally, I enjoy the atmosphere at the bar.

The restaurant specializes in Japanese cuisine, and I highly recommend the vegan set menu, which I’ve savored on my last three visits—it’s consistently excellent.

The wine selection is natural, diverse, and reasonably priced. During my last visit, we decided to try the L’Octavin Hip Hip J Pinot Noir 2023 from Jura, which I found to have a juicy, fresh quality with vibrant redcurrant and cherry flavors along with a hint of acidity. Its expressive nature was heightened by a distinct mineral tension, earning a rating of 94/100.

We also sampled some mezcal, which was quite enjoyable:

  • Luneta Papalometl: Smoky and spicy, with a rich and intense palate that leaves a long finish. Rated 9.5/10.
  • Luneta Mexicano Agave: Notable for its green herbal notes and complex texture. Rated 9.5/10.
  • El Comandante Agave Tobasiche: Rich and warm, with an array of sweet pear and aniseed flavors, offering depth and warmth. Rated 9/10.

Brilliant Corners is a fantastic destination for both food lovers and those who appreciate a good glass of wine.
