Scent creator Jo Malone CBE has unveiled her latest venture, Jo Vodka, a trio of luxurious sensory spirits designed to elevate the drinking experience. Known for her successful fragrance brands, Jo Malone and Jo Loves, Malone collaborated with Master Distiller Joanne Moore to create three distinct vodka expressions.
The collection is anchored by its signature vodka, 101, The Purist, while the other two flavors explore unique profiles: 102, The Bohemian features citrus notes such as bergamot and pomelo, and 103, The Artist introduces floral elements with hints of rose and neroli, complemented by pink peppercorn and sencha.
Malone, who has synesthesia—a condition where one sense is perceived as another—expressed her curiosity about translating her olfactory experiences into a taste experience. She stated, "With Jo Vodka, I believe we’ve achieved exactly that. Each fusion captures a distinct emotion crafted to complement how you feel in different moments."
Collaborating with Moore, who is one of the pioneering female Master Distillers, they infused natural botanicals and unique flavor combinations to create a line of fusion vodkas. Moore shared her excitement in merging their expertise in scent and taste, which allowed for the exploration of botanical interactions akin to both vodka crafting and scent creation.
The range took over a year to develop in partnership with Quintessential Brands Group, which owns G&J Distillers, a distillery with a rich heritage dating back to 1761. Malone noted the surprising similarities she found between scent creation and vodka crafting, particularly the behavior of botanicals.
During a tasting of 102, The Bohemian, its fragrant citrus aroma was both fresh and crisp on the palate, leaving a zesty aftertaste of bergamot and bayleaf, making it perfect for cocktail creation, such as a Vodkatini.
The vodkas come packaged in elegant art deco-style bottles, reminiscent of perfume bottles, featuring red glass stoppers for added flair.
