The charming village of Carema is nestled within a natural amphitheater adorned with terraced vineyards, situated on the western side of the Dora Baltea valley, right at the Piedmont regional border with Val d’Aosta.
Below, there’s a motorway that ascends the valley towards the Mont Blanc tunnel, while above, the majestic peaks of the Alps rise high into the sky.
A decade ago, the wines of Carema and its distinctive terraces were facing a decline that threatened to push them into obscurity.
However, in recent years, the village has experienced a revival, prompting my visit to the region to connect with some of the producers who are invigorating the winemaking tradition.
