This morning’s (10 June) release of Château Smith Haut Lafitte 2023 (97-points, Decanter) continued the recent pattern of price reductions compared to last year’s en primeur campaign for the 2022 vintage.
However, despite these cuts, the wine’s cost remains higher than some older vintages from the Pessac-Léognan estate, as reported by Liv-ex, a major trade marketplace for wines.
It was launched at €91.2 per bottle ex-négociant, marking a 20% decrease from the 2022 release. The wine’s introductory UK pricing was £1,188 per case of 12x75cl in bond. However, pricing varied initially; Farr Vintners and Bordeaux Index listed the wine at £1,080 per 12x75cl in bond.
Another notable release, St-Émilion’s Château Larcis Ducasse 2023 (95pts), also made its debut with a suggested retail price of £50 per bottle in bond as noted by the consultancy Wine Lister.
Both releases follow a busy week for the en primeur campaign, which saw offers for first growth Château Margaux, among many others. See our scores and prices table for other Bordeaux 2023 en primeur releases.
