2007 Ferrari Giulio Ferrari Collezione: A Pinnacle of Automotive Excellence

By | 27 March 2026

The 2007 Ferrari Giulio Ferrari Collezione has been released, reinforcing its status among the world’s premier sparkling wines. Ferrari has showcased its ambition by aging its flagship wine for nearly two decades prior to its launch, a technique more commonly associated with the elite champagnes.

While many champagnes delay their releases for over 15 years, few brands, like Bruno Paillard, Billecart-Salmon, and Krug, are known for such practices. These high-caliber sparkling wines include carefully curated blends, and Ferrari’s Giulio Ferrari Collezione aims to compete at this level with its impressive aging process.

Only the fifth vintage of this single-vineyard Blanc de Blancs—after releases in 1995, 1997, 2001, and 2004—just 3,870 bottles and 275 magnums of the 2007 vintage were produced. The quality of Trentodoc sparklers often goes underappreciated; events like Bollicini su Trento have highlighted their age-worthiness.

The unpredictable growing season of 2007, characterized by a snowless winter and a dry spring, brought about early harvesting in August. The conditions resulted in high-quality grapes, which are essential for producing exceptional sparkling wines.

Cyril Brun, who joined Ferrari in July 2023, is pushing for more textural complexity in their wines while respecting the region’s nuances. He aims to create wines reflective of their Alpine origins rather than imitate Champagne. Brun’s approach includes employing techniques such as using large oak foudres for subtle complexity without overwhelming the wine with oak flavors.

The 2007 Giulio Ferrari Collezione is sourced from the Maso Pianizza vineyard, situated on the Alps’ slopes. The vineyard’s unique climate, characterized by significant diurnal temperature variations, is ideal for high-quality sparkling wine. The vines are on average 20 years old and have been replanted to maximize their potential.

Disgorged with an Extra Brut dosage in February 2025, the wine has already undergone more than a year of aging post-disgorgement. Tasting events have revealed the wine’s development, showcasing ripe citrus, buttery notes, and a rich, creamy finish.

The 2007 Giulio Ferrari Collezione exemplifies the tremendous potential of Trentodoc sparkling wines, proving they deserve recognition alongside the finest champagnes. With a retail price of €420 per bottle, the wine is available upon request, reflecting its exclusivity and quality.
