CHAMBOLLE-MUSIGNY

Sarah Marsh MW presents her insights on the 2024 Burgundy vintage, focusing on the producers from Chambolle-Musigny, highlighting the challenges and characteristics of this year’s wines.

DOMAINE JACQUES-FREDERIC MUGNIER

Frédéric Mugnier describes the 2024 vintage as “expressive and cool,” recommending its classic Burgundian profile. He believes it has great aging potential, akin to the reliability of a Rolls Royce. Despite mildew causing challenges during the growing season, leading to extensive treatments (16-18 in total), the harvest starting on September 17 saw a reasonable yield, particularly from Bonnes-Mares.

The wine underwent a usual pre-fermentation maceration and utilized no new oak barrels given the small quantities. The élevage followed typical practices with a mix of new and used barrels, ensuring a balance of flavors.
