Discover Cave Biber: Exquisite Wines from the Heart of Switzerland’s Valais Region

By | 12 January 2026

Cave Biber is a winery located in the Valais region of Switzerland, which was established in 1971 by René Mathier in the village of Salgesch. Initially, the winery encompassed five hectares of vineyard, and after 20 years, it was sold to Jürg Biber who rebranded it. In 2022, due to the absence of successors, Biber sold the winery to Bernd Reichart from Zurich, who now oversees its operation while Biber holds the title of honorary president.

Remo Meyer, the current winemaker and operations manager, joined the winery under the new ownership, bringing with him significant experience from various vineyards in the Valais. In 2023, he transitioned all vineyard practices to organic farming.
