Exploring the Exceptional Wines at the 67 Sessions: Le Moine, Brocard, Scala Dei, and San Leonardo

The evening prior to the 67 Pall Mall Global Wine Communicator Awards saw the launch of the 67 Sessions, combining wine, words, and music in a vibrant atmosphere. The event featured a talented jazz trio, including Tom Hewson, who returned to his roots as a jazz pianist, alongside Nelson Pari on guitar and Tom Farmer on bass.

The highlight of the evening was Andrew Jefford, who beautifully crafted a narrative through his insightful words, delivering a blend of ideas that captivated the audience.

Attendees were treated to an impressive selection of wines, many of which provided delightful surprises. Noteworthy highlights included:

  • Champagne Laurent Perrier Héritage Brut NV (France) – A groundbreaking non-vintage Brut Champagne crafted exclusively from reserve wines sourced from 40 crus, including half Grand Cru varieties. This wine showcases bright citrus flavors, a hint of toast, and a balanced salinity with a rating of 93/100.

  • Lucien Le Moine Chablis 1er Cru Monte de Tonnerre 2021 (France) – Unique for its maturation in a single 500-liter new barrel, this remarkable wine presents an intense profile with complex toast, honey, and spice notes. Its multidimensional character maintains freshness and precision, earning a 97/100 rating.

  • Julien Brocard Chablis 1er Cru Monte de Tonnerre 2021 (France) – Broad and toasty with nutty hints, this wine delivers depth and finesse while remaining fresh, earning a score of 94/100.

  • Scala Dei Prior 2021 (Priorat, Spain) – A blend of Grenache, Carignan, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah, this wine is ripe and seamless with flavors of liquorice, leather, and sweet berry fruits. It boasts an elegant balance and a rating of 95/100.

  • Tenuta San Leonardo San Leonardo 2017 (Trentino, Italy) – Made from Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmenere, and Merlot with vinification guided by Giacamo Tachis, this aromatic wine features ripe blackberry and blackcurrant notes with hints of spice, scoring 94/100.
