WhistlePig Unveils the Longest-Aged North American Single Malt to Date

By | 4 September 2025

WhistlePig has made headlines with the launch of The BigShǝBàng, touted as the longest-aged single-malt whiskey from North America. This remarkable whiskey, a product of 30 years of aging, is now available for a striking retail price of $4,999.

Released on September 3, 2025, WhistlePig has offered just under four barrels of this limited-edition whiskey, making it a highly sought-after item for connoisseurs. The distillery, located on a sprawling 200-hectare farm in Vermont, prides itself on its farm-to-bottle approach, focusing on rye to craft their spirits.

For this new release, the whiskey has undergone three decades of maturation in American oak barrels, followed by an additional four weeks in Vin Santo barrels—an Italian dessert wine renowned for its complex flavors. According to chief blender Meghan Ireland, sourcing these Vin Santo barrels was a considerable endeavor, but the investment enriched the whiskey’s depth and character.

Vin Santo, primarily produced in Tuscany, is celebrated for its intricacies. The barrels, known as caratelli, undergo years of aging, developing unique yeasts that impart distinct qualities to the resulting wine. In alignment with Vin Santo’s exclusivity, The BigShǝBàng will be available only at the WhistlePig Vault in Louisville, Kentucky, and at select high-end whiskey bars across the country.

Meghan Ireland expresses that this release is unlike anything WhistlePig has produced before. Each bottle contains a 90.4 proof (45.2% ABV) whiskey featuring a 100% malted barley mashbill.
