Hollywood actor Brad Pitt has released a new video showcasing breathtaking vistas of the French Riviera to promote his organic gin, The Gardener. The film acts as a "poetic love letter" to the scenic coastline that has long inspired artists and film stars alike.
Pitt opens the video by noting, "The French Riviera is a beautiful and capricious muse," as the camera captures a speedboat cutting through the sparkling waters of the Côte d’Azur. This gin is branded as a "French Riviera gin" and features fresh citrus from Provence, along with traditional botanicals like juniper, angelica, and coriander.
Produced in collaboration with the Perrin winemaking family and master distiller Tom Nichol, The Gardener was first introduced at the Cannes Film Festival in 2023. Nichol, who has a background with Tanqueray and received a lifetime achievement award from The Gin Guild in 2015, is instrumental in developing this new spirit.
While this represents Pitt’s first venture into the spirits market, he has previously made a name for himself in the wine industry with the launch of Château Miraval rosé wine alongside his then-wife Angelina Jolie in 2013. The inaugural Miraval release sold out within hours and garnered praise from critics, benefiting from the expertise of the Perrin family, renowned for their Château de Beaucastel wines.
Despite facing a lengthy legal dispute over the ownership of Château Miraval with Jolie, winemaking activities at the estate continue. Additionally, Pitt has revitalized a music recording studio on the property, further expanding his creative influences. In 2021, he also launched Fleur de Miraval Champagne in collaboration with the Perrins and acclaimed grower-producer Pierre Péters.
The trend of celebrity-backed wines and spirits has surged in recent years, with studies indicating that such products often outperform the overall market.
