Quinta de Tourais is located in the Baixo Douro, specifically at the entrance of the Douro Valley when traveling from Porto. This area is known for its cooler and wetter climate, which distinguishes it from the rest of the Douro region. The Quinta, nestled opposite the town of Regua across the river, boasts a rich history that dates back to 1927 when it was acquired by Fernando Coelho’s grandfather from Ramos Pinto. Until 1999, the grapes were predominantly sold to Port companies.
Fernando Coelho, having a background in restaurant management and a passion for winemaking, pursued formal studies at Vila Real and initiated the production of wine from his estate’s grapes in 1999. Currently, the estate produces around 15,000 bottles annually. The packaging of the wines is distinctive, which, along with their unique characteristics, reflects the personality of the vineyard.
