This innovative range stems from a project initiated over a decade ago, aiming to craft Prosecco of added complexity and superior ageing capabilities through prolonged fermentation.
The striking Bottega Gold is the best-selling Prosecco in Duty Free according to IWSR Report 2022.
The Bottega family boasts four centuries of winemaking expertise and established their current company in 1977, steadily building a loyal following. This year, the Bottega team impressed during vertical tastings held in London, showcasing the finesse of their Prosecco vintages dating from 2013 to 2022, proving to sommeliers and wine journalists the remarkable ageing capability of Prosecco.
Introducing the Bottega Premium Vintage Collection, showcasing an optimal representation of Prosecco’s potential to age gracefully. Sourced from single-vineyard plots in the Treviso province’s high-quality hilly terrain, the grapes thrive in varied soil compositions.
Post-harvest, these grapes are subjected to an extended fermentation period, lasting anywhere from four to twelve months—significantly longer than the traditional three months. This process occurs in horizontal autoclaves where a secondary fermentation develops the wine’s signature effervescence via the Martinotti method, enriching the Prosecco with a broader spectrum of intricate aromas and flavors.
Bottega has dedicated ten years to developing its Gold Premium Vintage Collection range.
This long-term initiative by Bottega to refine its Premium Vintage Collection aims to highlight the elegance of Prosecco and honor the diligent grape growers of the region who cultivate high-quality grapes. In Treviso, the landscape is sprinkled with small farms managed by individual producers, all deeply invested in the caliber of both the grapes they cultivate and the wines they produce.
The challenging terrains of steep slopes in the region necessitate a community of producers who are alike in their passionate dedication and pursuit of quality. The fruits of their labor are evident in Bottega’s new Gold Premium range, which encapsulates the fusion of refined winemaking with the expertise and skills of the region’s adept growers.
