Nyetimber’s prestige cuvées are dubbed as 1086, owing to the reference of the inclusion of Nyetimber manor in the Doomsday book during that year. These significant selections represent the best wines and are only produced during select vintages.
Nyetimber 1086 2010 Sussex, England
This splendid offering is a blend of 45% Chardonnay, 44% Pinot Noir, and 11% Pinot Meunier, sourced from estate-owned vineyards with greensand soils. The manufacturing date shows that the bottle was prepared on 09.05.2011, shuffled on 07.03.2019, eventually disgorged on 20.01.2020. It features a relatively low pH of 3.01, with a Total Acidity (TA) of 7.8 g/litre. The tasting notes reveal scents of apple and brioche, with touches of lemon and pear, as well hints of cherry and almond. The coupling of apple/pear notes with robust acidity and significant dosage strikes a balance of sweet and sour on the palate. The assertive acidity is tempered as the other flavours bloom progressively, revealing tastes of cherry, lime, toast, honey, and a plethora of spices. It brings on the palate an intense concentration, with faint hints of oxidation behind the brightness of the fruit. Undoubtedly, it comes with an exceptional presence and even a certain structure in the finish. 94/100
