I’ve recently returned from the Festival del Potatare, a pruning festival hosted by Simonit & Sirch, a leading pruning consultancy. This celebration took place at San Felice in Chianti Classico and spanned over two days. On the first day, a technical conference focused on the role of water in viticulture, elucidating how water management has become critical in numerous wine regions globally. The following day featured a pruning competition, providing attendees with a chance to enjoy themselves in the vineyard. Apart from the single and group pruning competition, the festival showcased vineyard equipment, including horse ploughing and drone spraying, as well as lumberjack and street dance performances. The day concluded with a fun-filled short movie capturing the day’s activities.
